Costa Children's Book Award
Patrick Ness’s latest title, The Ask and the Answer, the sequel to The Knife of Never Letting Go and the second in the Chaos Walking series, has been named the overall winner of the Children’s Book Award. The Costa judges said "From the first word, we were gripped by this dazzlingly-imagined, morally complex, compulsively-plotted tale. We are convinced that this is a major achievement in the making."

The Galaxy Book of the Year 2009 is announced
The Galaxy Book of the Year is determined by an elite and bi-partisan chapter of the Academy of the British Book Industry. The winner is : The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, by Kate Summerscale.

The MAN Booker Prize 2008 Winner is Announced
The Man Booker Prize for Fiction represents the very best in contemporary fiction. This year's winner is The White Tiger by Aravinda Adiga. Balram Halwai is the White Tiger - the smartest boy in his village. His family is too poor for him to afford to finish school and he has to work in a teashop, breaking coals and wiping tables. But Balram gets his break when a rich man hires him as a chauffeur, and takes him to live in Delhi.

2008 Southwark Book Award
After months of preparation and hard work, Siobhan Dowd's The London Eye Mystery won the 2008 Southwark Book Award. Winning pupils from the 18 participating schools were treated to a special prize - a ride on the real London Eye itself, (courtesy of British Airways). The students were greeted by local MP, Simon Hughes, who spoke of his enthusiasm for reading, and encouraged them to find 3 good books to read on their holidays! They were also given a copy of 'The London Eye', and were presented with a 'goody bag' from the publisher, Random House Children's Books. For more information www.southwarkbookaward.org.uk

Here Lies Arthur won the CILIP Carnegie Medal, and Little Mouse's Big Book of Fears by Emily Gravett has won the Kate Greenaway Medal.
