2008 Southwark Book Award

After months of preparation and hard work, Siobhan Dowd's The London Eye Mystery won the 2008 Southwark Book Award. Winning pupils from the 18 participating schools were treated to a special prize - a ride on the real London Eye itself, (courtesy of British Airways). The students were greeted by local MP, Simon Hughes, who spoke of his enthusiasm for reading, and encouraged them to find 3 good books to read on their holidays! They were also given a copy of 'The London Eye', and were presented with a 'goody bag' from the publisher, Random House Children's Books. For more information www.southwarkbookaward.org.uk
