I have recently read this book which I personally thought was brilliant and was very catchy. The best things about this book are the cliff hangers and sudden twists in the story which make it full of suspense. The book is very good in the way the author has made a very different starting chapter to the book to throw you off guessing the rest.

Good, set in a Scottish town - gang leaders terrorising other gangs - with guns and drugs. Two children get involved because they are writing a diary and they go to the gangs turf as they like exploring and one of them finds the gangs stash.
Knowledge means danger and one gets involved with the rival gang because he saw a shooting and killing and he knows where he has hidden..... He becomes Omars boy and while he is out of the way they fight for his turf...
It is a fast paced narrative - a thriller - because you are worried about the children and get involved and care. I really enjoyed it especially as it is very easy to read.

For a younger reader. Girl goes on holiday and gets involved in a series of murders . Not too gory . Mainly falling of a cliff or being pushed off a cliff type of murder/accident. Not too clear what is happening but turns into a serial killer . Scenario tense and lots of suspense, but clues all there from the beginning. Highly enjoyable read but more suitable for year 6 and year 7

A good book. I wanted to read more because it is a story that is so exciting. It’s about Poppy who can tell what a person’s personality is just by looking at them. It is realistic because she can tell but Bruce who drives them on the ferry to the island has scars so she can’t read his face. (so it is a thriller) and it keeps you thinking because there are instructors on the island – it is a murder mystery.

When I first began to read Angel Boy, I was gripped with the high attention to detail which I though was fascinating as it gave me an insight into the whole story. The story kept me gripped throughout. It was tense throughout and I found myself getting more and more worried for Leonard as his ordeal went on. However, I think it gave me a clear insight into what happens in other countries without people knowing. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read and also a good insight into some of the traditions of Ghana as both of these are plentiful. So if you want a book that will keep you gripped and entertained then Angel Boy is definitely for you.

Angel Boy is a truly brilliant children’s novel. The book is an eye opening story to life in Africa and even though it is based on fiction, we see what people have to go through in everyday life over there. Angel Boy not only brings a high level of suspense, it also brings a mixture of fear, hope and love into the reader’s heart. I feel that this tale touched my heart and hopefully will touch the heart of others. I would give this book 4 stars.

The book Angel Boy is mainly about a boy from Ghana called Leonard Boameh who runs away from home as he doesn’t live with his mum or dad. When he leaves home he doesn’t have enough money to get back and so he wanders off and gets lost. Later on, he meets some boys off the street who see him and think he’s an easy target. He gets his name “Angel Boy” because he is not as streetwise as the other kids because of this Leonard finds himself in a living nightmare where he is bullied into pestering the tourists. I found the book interesting to read and a lesson in what happens what could go wrong when young people run away
